The Alliance to Restore the Republic
The Rebellion, also known as the Alliance to Restore the Republic or simple Rebel Alliance, is a resistance movement that was formed initially by Bail Organa and Mon Mothma to oppose the Galactic Empire.
While there are many star systems and groups involved in the Rebel Alliance, it is still essentially a resistance movement based around rebel cells, not a full fledged military power. The Rebel Alliance employs small paramilitary forces of its own, but the bulk of its power comes from Independent worlds who lend their military units to the cause.
In the Gordian Reach, the Rebel Alliance has amassed the bulk of their power base at an organizational and leadership level, but most of the military might they possess is spread out around dozens of systems across the Galaxy. While Yavin-IV is well guarded and defended, the rest of the Gordian Reach is under constant pressure from the Galactic Empire.
The Rebel Alliance has not yet formed a cohesive Rebel Fleet, although it has a handful of small corvettes, frigates, and armed freighters in the Gordian Reach for use in defending Yavin-IV. They do have larger capital ship assets (a few of them), but these are scattered across the galaxy in the hands of Systems Forces, for use only in their respective systems. Likewise, outside of the Yavin-IV garrison and special operations groups scattered on the planets of the Gordian Reach, the majority of the Alliance's troops are part of Systems Forces.
The Shepherds
The Shepherds are one of many paramilitary special operations groups stationed in the Gordian Reach. They provide operational support for various intelligence gathering missions, as well as running more direct actions against the Empire.
Current Assignment
Arda-2. The Arda-2 cell of the Shepherds consists of a reinforced platoon of ground forces, a short squadron of pilots, and a variety of miscellaneous personnel. Their ground forces have pistols, rifles, grenades, and access to a small store of detonite, but little in the way of heavy weapons. Their pilots have access to three airspeeders of various models, three Z-95 Headhunters, two Y-Wings with no proton torpedoes, and two V-19 Torrents with a total of 6 concussion missiles. All of these vehicles are scattered across different hangers at the spaceport. There are also two submersibles in the Arda-2 base for emergency getaways.
Ranks
The Shepherds follow the same basic rank structure that all the other units they employ use:
Enlisted Ranks
- Private
- Private 1st Class
- Corporal
- Sergeant
Officer Ranks
- Warrant Officer/Flight Officer (SFC)
- Lieutenant
- Captain
- Major
- Colonel
- General
Currently ground and air forces work together in the Shepherds as a single cohesive unit, employing their skills when needed.
The Nest
The Nest is an informal group of spies, slicers, and specialists who are aligned with the Rebel Alliance. They often work with the Shepherds or the Irregulars on intelligence gathering operations.
Rank
Unlike the Shepherds, Nest Agents hold no formal rank. That being said, they all generally are acknowledged to be at least Warrant Officers in terms of command authority if needed.
Nest agents will at times be given command over other units for the purposes of a specific mission, but in general, the Shepherds have command authority if it turns into a fight.
Operations
Nest agents are far less structured than military units. They do not usually work as a cohesive unit. They often work alone, or in secret. Some have identities they refuse to reveal, others work in teams to achieve their goals.
The Nest has access to several civilian vessels for transport, and often work in tandem with a pilot or two to ensure they can get the job done.
When not actively working intelligence gathering assignments, Nest Agents can (and often are) called upon to go on field assignments with the Shepherds for their expertise.
The Irregulars
Where as the Shepherds and the Nest are both formal members of the Rebel Alliance, the Irregulars are a mercenary group with a single objective: To Fight the Empire.
One might think they would be part of the Rebel Alliance based solely on that, but where the rebels work in shadows and secret, concerned about the attention other methods might draw, the Irregulars are direct, and violent. They have no issue with the Empire knowing who they are and what they are after.
The Irregulars are based out of a Corellian Corvette, and also have a Citadel-class armed freighter and a couple snubfighters. There are nearly 300 of them, although many of those serve as crewmen on the corvette, and the ground forces are rarely ever drawn together in one place, instead spreading out to prepare for and execute (usually paid) strikes against the Empire. When they need to lay low somewhere besides on the Corvette, they often find a quiet place on Gulvitch.
Organization
The Irregulars follow former Clone Commander, and are generally made up of mercenaries and zealots.
